How my Arsenal spell opened doors for African talents - Kanu Nwankwo

Kanu Nwankwo says his success at Arsenal 'opened the doors' for more African footballers to play in the Premier League. Today Thursday, February 18, marks the 17th anniversary of Kanu signing for the club, and the 39-year-old has fond memories of his time in north London.

The former Nigeria striker joined the Gunners in 1999 and went on to score 44 goals in 198 appearances, helping the Gunners lift two Premier League trophies and two FA Cups during his five years at the club.

"I believe I was the first African person who came to England and did very well," he told Arsenal Player. "After that the doors opened for African talent so, with Arsenal behind me and what we did with Arsenal, everybody now tends to follow the English league.

"When I came over I saw a good coach who saw the best in me. I was a good player because he made it easier for me to play.

"Everybody believes that English football is all about playing the ball up, not keeping it on the ground, but Arsène has his own idea of football and it made it easier for us. He wanted us to play football the right way, he wanted us to enjoy it by passing the ball around and that’s what we did
"It was very easy to adjust when you saw the fans. The supporters are behind you and they love you and what you are doing and that means you have to do more. If you keep doing more, they keep loving you and it was very easy for them to adopt me.

"I had the skills and the tricks the fans really love. When I left Arsenal I still had the fans on my mind and since then I’ve been supporting the club."

Teen accused of impersonating doctor, stealing from patient

Malachi Love-Robinson had all the trappings of a medical practice — an office, a lab coat and stethoscope. What he didn't have, authorities say, was a medical license — few 18 year olds do. Now the Florida teen is charged with practicing medicine without a license and theft after he allegedly performed an exam on an undercover agent and took almost $3,500 from an 86-year-old woman seeking treatment for stomach pain.
He's also accused of stealing three checks from her that he cashed for almost $2,800.
Love-Robinson was released on $21,000 bail on Wednesday, one day after his arrest.
"Those are just allegations," he told The Associated Press in a brief phone interview. He said he planned to hold a news conference Wednesday evening to discuss the charges.
According to Palm Beach County sheriff's reports, an undercover agent went to Love-Robinson's office, The New Birth New Life Medical Center, on Tuesday. He was wearing a white lab coat with a stethoscope draped over his neck.

The agent told him that she was suffering from a sore throat, lethargy and sneezing. He took her temperature and used the stethoscope to check her lungs and heart and told her she was suffering from allergies and should take an over-the-counter medication.
He told her he was a doctor of homeopathic medicine, the report said, and explained that he had a medical doctor on staff to prescribe antibiotics. She signaled other detectives who entered the office and arrested him.

Detectives also cited the case of Anita Morrison, who filed a complaint alleging Love-Robinson had come to her house five times in December after she contacted him online to treat her for stomach pains. He told her she suffered from arthritis and sold her vitamins, charging her $3,494 that she paid by check.

During one visit, she told detectives, she became ill, and Love-Robinson called an ambulance to take her to the hospital. He recommended that she not take her purse, so she gave it to him and asked him to lock up her house.
After her release, she found her bank account had no money. Investigators said Love-Robinson had forged three checks from her account.

Morrison did not immediately return a message left on her voicemail.
A website for Love-Robinson's medical practice says he specializes in naturopathy, a system of medicine based on the healing power of nature that avoids the use of surgery and drugs. It is not a licensed medical specialty in Florida and cannot be legally practiced in the state. Its practitioners do not attend traditional medical schools.

Love-Robinson's website says he is a "well rounded professional" who bases his treatments on "physiological functions and abnormal conditions on natural laws governing the human body."
The site says he accepts 19 health insurance plans, plus Medicaid. Three insurance companies contacted by AP said they had no dealings with him. The site also says he speaks French and lists his age as 25.

The Palm Beach Post and South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that Love-Robinson had been stopped last year at a hospital while wandering the halls wearing a lab coat and stethoscope. He was then 17.
On a separate religious-themed website, Love-Robinson says he is an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church, having done a doctoral thesis that "explored the paradoxical nature of certain Christian doctrines and the implications for the rationality of Christian faith." The Universal Life Church is an Internet-based church that will ordain anyone 13 or older who fills out a short form.

"Dr Love-Robinson is now and (sic) advocate for ULC and all Associations in which he represents and intends to bring much good to community one blessing at a time," his profile says.

Kanye West loses $10million in sales due to pirated copies of his album after it was released on Tidal

Kanye West took a huge financial hit due to the poor roll out of his new album The Life of Pablo. His latest work has been pirated and downloaded so many times since its release that the rapper has lost $10million in sales. This all comes at a time when West has claimed he is $53million in debt.

The New York Post reports that if the 500,000 people who illegally downloaded the album in its frist day had paid the $20 it cost to buy the album West would have personally made $10million.
Kanye revealed on Monday that his album will never go on sale and will only ever be available on Tidal, the digital music service which is subscription based and owned by his friend Jay Z and other music artists.
'My album will never never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale... You can only get it on Tidal,' wrote Kanye on Twitter.
'Please to all my friends fans and music lovers. Sign up to Tidal now.'
Tidal costs $10 to $20 a month, with fans able to get their first month for free.

West may be able to make up that $10million he lost in album sales though, as fellow rapper The Game said he would give him that exact amount as an investment if he came to Dubai to skydive with him on Thursday.

West has yet to respond to this offer.

On Monday, West also expressed his anger towards Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, New York Times over their reception of his new album.
It was a bit surprising considering Pitchfork gave his album a very good 9/10 rating, Rolling Stone has given the work extensive coverage and the Times wrote in their review; 'Now his rapping is sparser, more pointed, less imagistic and more emotional. And when he truly needs to be heard, he can corral a dream team of collaborators. He’s so fluent that he can use others to speak for him, and be understood clear as day.'
On that same night he also called Puff Daddy 'the most important cultural figure in my life,' said that white people 'don't understand what it means to be the great grandson of ex slaves' and also noted that the 'system is designed for colored people to fail and one of our only voices is music.'

Kanye's rant came on the same night as the Grammys, where he was nominated for four awards including one for Best Album for his work producing the Weeknd's Beauty Behind the Madness. He lost in all four of his categories.
