Kaduna state deputy governor meets with CAN leaders over controversial preaching Bill

Deputy Governor of Kaduna state, Barnabas Bala, today met with the leaders of Kaduna State CAN, led by the chairman George Dodo, Catholic Bishop of Zaria to discuss the controversial Religious Regulation Bill which the state governor Nasir El Rufai has sent to the state House of Assembly for debate and passage.

According to the Deputy Governor, the Religious Preaching Law is proposed to curb extremism & protect safe practice of faith. He said this is the first time the preaching bill is being subjected to democratic scrutiny since it was enacted in 1984.

The 1984 and 1987 versions of the edict were enacted following outbreaks of religious violence which Kaduna wishes to confine to the past. “There is nothing in the Bill that suggests any effort to abolish, stop or derogate on the freedom of religion and religious beliefs. It merely seeks to ensure that religious preaching and activities in the State are conducted in ways that do not threaten public order, public safety, and to protect the rights and freedom of other persons.”he said

Leader of the CAN group, Bishop Dodo said CAN welcomeD the consultations, and would be making a comprehensive submission to the House of Assembly and the Executive. The Deputy Governor said the consultations continue & that the legislative process of public hearings also offer a platform for all views.

Donald Trump assures America he has a big eggplant during detroit presidential debate

At the Fox News republican presidential debate yesterday, Donald Trump suggested he has a big eggplant after another presidential candidate Marco Rubio insinuated he is a small man below the belt, and that he deserved to be attacked personally because of how much he attacks others.

Trump responded saying

Then he spread his palms out and tells the crowd that he isn't small below the belt.

So a couple of days ago, I reached one million followers on Twitter...you go, Linda! Lol. There are like 2million Nigerians on Twitter (I stand to be corrected) and half of them follow me...I'm so honoured. Thanks Nigeria! :-)

Meanwhile, there's something else I want to address because I saw a lot of folks abusing me upandan on social media this week over tweets they think I posted. Something about 'I can buy any man I want'. Yeah, right, that's why I've been single for years! #Rollseyes!

I may have made careless statements during the Hermes saga that I definitely regret and have apologized for (I was stark raving mad when I was posting on IG...I was in another world...lol) and my words were to the 'haters' but I forgot that there were young people who look up to me who were also observing what was going on and were disappointed by my remarks. I regret my words. So, yeah, I may have said those silly things but I would never post those tweets from the fake account. It was tweeted some days ago and I addressed it on Twitter but I see some people/groups on Facebook talking about it and many still believe I tweeted it and are just abusing me anyhow..lol. Thus, I decided to address it here!

No one can buy a man...or a woman for that matter. You can only buy a Muppet or a gold digger, not a real man. And a real man is what I am looking for! *wink*. Pregnant woman discovers her lover married a tourist while she was in labour - after seeing a pic of their wedding day on FB

24 year old Heather McGillion said she was devastated to discover her partner Adonis Rodriguez , 21, had married another woman while she was giving birth to their son. She discovered the shocking news when a friend sent her a loved-up wedding photo of Adonis and his new wife, a German tourist called Julia. Heather said she met Adonis while were both working as entertainers at a hotel in the Dominican Republic and fell pregnant a year later.

She returned home to give birth after experiencing complications, but while she was in labour, Adonis tied the knot with Julia. He later admitted to Heather that he had married Julia and has said he is sorry. She has returned to the Caribbean Island, where her mother lives, so that her son can have a relationship with his father. 

Heather, a trained dancer, said: 'When I opened the message it felt like I had been hit by a double-decker bus. Adonis had his arms around a woman and she was wearing a wedding dress. It didn't make sense and the more I thought about it, the more absurd it was.We had only been apart for a few weeks and there was no way Adonis could have met another woman and arranged a wedding in less than a month.'

'For a second I didn't twig who it was. Then to my horror I realised it was Julia,' she recalled.

'She was a German tourist who came to stay at the hotel. About a year before I had noticed Adonis had become friends with her on Facebook and they had been messaging each other.

'It was nothing sexual but it made me feel uneasy. But Adonis assured me there was nothing going on and when I discovered I was pregnant I forgot all about it.'

When Heather called Adonis to confront him about he admitted everything.

She also noticed in the wedding photos that Julia, 31, had undergone a radical makeover.

She added: 'She was unrecognisable from the slightly plump, mousy woman I had seen on Adonis's Facebook page.

'In fact she now looked like me. She had lost weight and dyed her hair to look just like me, only with added wrinkles.

'When I phoned Adonis and asked "Why is Julia in a wedding dress?", there was a pause and then he said: "Heather, I'm so sorry". I hung up and burst into tears.'

Heather later discovered that after Adonis had moved to another hotel to find work, he had been meeting up with Julia.

She had travelled to visit him around four times and they planned the wedding to take place while she was back in the UK.

Heather has returned to the Dominican Republic with Diego, who is now three months old, and is allowing Adonis to visit him.

She said: 'My mum has retired here so I have come out again with my son.

'Despite everything, I want Diego to have a father so Adonis is in regular contact with him but it's very hard.

'I feel so foolish for trusting Adonis but I keep telling myself there were no warning signs.
